Body protection compound-157, BPC-157, is a synthetically produced peptide comprising 15 amino acids. The peptide is shown to have a wide range of healing mechanisms, which include the upregulation of growth factors and genes involved with healing, proangiogenic effects, modulation of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis, modulation of the serotonergic and dopaminergic systems, as well as exerting significant beneficial effects via the positive effects on leaky gut, the gut-brain axis, and the microbiome.
BPC-157 is shown to reduce inflammation and increase healing in almost every tissue, including the gut, brain, skin, muscle, degenerative joints, cardiac tissue, and neuropathic pain; it is protective against neurotoxins and endotoxins and has significant antimicrobial properties. It also positively influences angiogenesis, the process of blood vessel creation, closely related to the healing of damaged tissue. It is posited that this is one of the qualities responsible for BPC-157s impressive regenerative ability.
"Stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 is an anti-ulcer peptidergic agent, safe in inflammatory bowel disease clinical trials and wound healing, stable in human gastric juice, and has no reported toxicity. Particularly, it has a prominent effect on alcohol-lesions (i.e., acute, chronic) and NSAIDslesions (interestingly, BPC 157 both prevents and reverses arthritis) ... and acts as a free radical scavenger and exhibits neuroprotective properties."
